A TIBETAN CARVED AND PAINTED GILT WOOD PANEL FROM A THRONE BACK

EARLY 15TH CENTURY

From a Pala style throne, decorated with gilded mythical figures including a saddled elephant on a lotus throne, a kinnari (half-bird and half-human divinity) and a vyala (leonine creature) surmounted by an attendant, sat before a Ming style foliate scroll, the border with stylised flames, mounted with a modern stand, 53cm x 18.3cm.
