A LARGE AND RARE CHINESE CARVED ROOTWOOD 'PHOENIX AND PEONY' BRUSHPOT, BITONG
QING DYNASTY
The natural, irregular tree trunk-shaped body with four lobed areas to the rim, carved in shallow relief to the exterior with eight phoenix in flight and standing amidst flowering peony and rockwork, beneath cloud scrolls decorating the rim, 3.4kg, 22cm high, 33cm across.
