Description

A GOOD CHINESE BLANC DE CHINE ANHUA-DECORATED 'LOTUS' STEM CUP
17TH CENTURY
The rounded sides raised to a slightly everted rim, decorated in anhua on the exterior with a frieze of lotus scrolls, supported on a spreading pedestal foot, covered with a creamy glaze in an ivory tone, 6.5cm.
Provenance: consigned by Captain W F Collins from Peking to Bluett's, and later purchased by Mr Charles Sydney Cheston, painter, d.1960, 3rd February 1926, and thence by descent. Recorded in Charles Cheston's 1946 catalogue as purchased from Bluett & Sons for £8; cf. R Davids & D Jellinek, Provenance, p.124 for further information about Captain William F Collins.
