Description
American/Spanish Interest: a press moulded glass jug, commemorating the Spanish-American war, moulded with a portrait of Admiral Dewey and the Olympia, 23cm.
The war with Spain was popular with the American citizens at the time. The situation began in Cuba which had been unhappy under Spanish rule and resulted in revolution erupting in 1868. This rebellion, which lasted for ten years, was finally repressed in 1878.
