A CHINESE SOAPSTONE CARVING OF LI BAI

LATE QING DYNASTY/ REPUBLIC PERIOD

Carved with the drunken poet, asleep and resting his head on an upturned wine jar, he has an open book to his side, the wine jar and the base inscribed with extensive calligraphy, 18.5cm.

Provenance: from a private collection, in London acquired in the 1950s.
