TWO CHINESE FIGURES OF GUANYIN
KANGXI 1662-1722
Each figure depicted wearing draped robes and with a tall chignon covered by a veil, the turquoise glazed Guanyin seated upon a pedestal throne, with a child standing next to her, whilst the sancai glazed goddess is decorated with a long bead necklace and holds a fly whisk in her right hand, 28cm and 19.9cm. (2)
Provenance: from the collection of Mr Charles Sydney Cheston, painter, d.1960, and thence by descent, the sancai recorded in Charles Cheston's 1946 catalogue as purchased for £11.
