Description

An Austrian model 1869 cavalry officer's sword, broad blade 32.5 in., fullered on one side and flat on the other, ricasso marked for the blade maker (WEYBERG & STAMM SOLINGEN) and the assembler (CARL GRASSER WAFFENFABRIK WEIN) and privately engraved '18/8/893' (18th August 1893)*; iron guard pierced and engraved in 'honeysuckle' style, wire bound shagreen grip; nickel plated steel scabbard of regulation type.
*this form of marking typically record the date on which the officer who owned the sword graduated from training.
