A George III silver two-handled soup tureen and cover,

by William Fountain, London 1813,

circular bellied form, part-fluted decoration, leaf capped fluted scroll side handles, gadroon border, the domed pull-off cover with a gadroon border and central fluted handle, engraved with an armorial shield and crest, length handle to handle 34.5cm, approx. weight 88.5oz.

The arms and crest are that of Fowle.
