Description
A mid 18th century Dutch parcel=gilt tobacco box,
by Evert Bot, Amsterdam 1751,
shaped rectangular form, the hinged cover engraved with a port scene, with two cherubs holding a banner, inscribed 'Zaandam' (probably), and '1752', engraved foliate borders, the sides with basket weave decoration, the underside with galleons and a whaling scene, length 12.8cm, approx. weight 6.7oz.
