A GEORGE III KINGWOOD AND MARQUETRY SIDE TABLE
ATTRIBUTED TO PIERRE LANGLOIS, THIRD QUARTER 18TH CENTURY
with ormolu mounts, the shaped top with harewood panels flanking a burr elm oval panel inlaid with ribbon tied flowers in various fruitwoods, the serpentine frieze with a conforming panel of flowers and leaves, on cabriole legs

Catalogue Note
Pierre Langlois (1718-1767) of Tottenham Court Road, London, was one of the leading cabinet makers of the mid-18th century. He produced a wide range of furniture in the French manner, specializing in commodes in the Louis XV / XVI styles, inlaid with floral marquetry and with gilt bronze mounts. His clients included the Duke of Bedford at Woburn Abbey, the Earl of Coventry at Croome Court and the Duchess of Northumberland at Woburn.
