A matched pair of Indian Regimental silver goblets, 3rd Battalion, 19th Hyderabad Regiment.

plain circular bowls, engraved with the Regimental badge, on knopped stems on raised circular bases, engraved to bases 'The Officers 3rd Battalion XIX Hyderabad Regiment from Lieut B.B Haynes 23-5-24' the other inscribed 'The Officers 1/97th Infantry from 2nd Lieut H.S. Larkin 5-12-17', height 19.8cm, approx. weight 31.4oz. (2)

In 1922 the 19th Hyderabad Regiment was created by bringing together six battalions of the Old Hyderabad Contingent. The 3rd Battalion was disbanded in 1931.

Henry Larkin (1899-1944) served in Mesopotamia during World War I and was promoted to Lieutenant on 12 September 1918. He returned back to India after the war and was involved in the unrest in Ahmedabad in Gujarat and was wounded in the disturbances. When the regiment was disbanded in 1931 he transferred to another Regiment and promoted to Major in 1935.

Basil Haynes (1899-1980) joined the Indian army at the age of 20. In 1922 he joined the 19th and was promoted to Captain in 1925. In 1931 when the Regiment was disbanded he returned to England. He was put on half pay and was listed as carrying out 'Home Duties'.
