Description

An early Victorian regimental silver Fiddle and Thread pattern table fork, 1st Madras European Regiment, (East India Company's Regiment),

by William Eaton, London 1839,

the terminal with the regimental badge, length 19.8cm, approx. weight 2.8oz.

The regiment became the 1st Madras Fusiliers in 1858, and when it transferred to the British Army in 1862, it became the 102nd Regiment (Royal Madras Fusiliers). In 1882 it amalgamated with the 103rd Royal Bombay Fusiliers to form The Royal Dublin Fusiliers.
