Description

Two pairs of George III and William IV Regimental silver Fiddle, Thread and Shell Table forks, The Royal Irish Rifles,

two by R. Peppin, London 1819, two by William Eaton, London 1830,

the terminals engraved with the badge of the 86th (Royal County Down) Regiment of Foot and the 83rd Regiment of Foot, approx. weight 11oz. (4)

The 86th Regiment was deployed to Madras in 1818. The Regiment returned in 1819. The 83rd Regiment took part in the Peninsular Campaign and Waterloo. in 1834 they were deployed to Canada. The two regiments amalgamated in 1881 to form the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Irish Rifles.
