Description
A Regimental silver whisky tot, The 8th (King's Royal Irish) Hussars,
by Asprey and Co., London 1912,
tapering circular form, scroll handle, domed hinged cover, hinged cover and spout cover, engraved with the Regimental badge and inscribed 'Capt. H.N. Clegg, June 1911', height 7.6cm, approx. weight 3oz.
Raised in 1693 the Regiment saw service in India, The Crimea, the Boer War, World War I and II, and in Korea. In 1958 it merged with the 4th Queen's Own Hussars to form the Queen's Royal Irish Hussars.
