Description

A Victorian presentation silver four light candelabrum,

by John Samuel Hunt, London 1857,

the central stem modelled as a classical figure holding a cornucopia shell and with a scythe and sheaf of

corn at her feet, mounted on a raised triangular base with three panels, two with pastoral scenes and one vacant, the reverse inscribed, 'Presented to Thomas Johnson Ward Esq. of Fernhill House Olveston Gloucestershire by his principal tenants in token of their great regard and esteem for him as their landlord 29th Oct, 1857', on three scroll feet, with four foliate scroll branches each supporting a fluted capital, central light missing, height 54cm, approx. weight 138oz.
