Description

A TIBETAN GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF VAJRADHARA
16/17TH CENTURY
Depicted seated in dhyanasana on a double lotus base with beaded rims, with his wrists crossed in vajrahumkara mudra, holding a vajra and ghanta, wearing a tightly wrapped dhoti, adorned with elaborate jewellery inset with hardstones, his face with a serene expression, the hair arranged into a high chignon and secured with a tiara, 562g, 15.8cm.
Provenance: from an English private collection, London, acquired prior to 2000.
