A JAPANESE BANKO WARE TEAPOT AND LID
MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY
The bisque body shaped as a small quail, the beak of the plump bird forming the spout and the long grasses against its back curving to create the handle; the lid with a small bee-shaped knop; with details highlighted in gilt, the base stamped Banko in a gourd-shaped reserve, 13.4cm. (2)
