FOUR JAPANESE BAMBOO IKEBANA VASES OR BASKETS
20TH CENTURY OR EARLIER
Of various shapes, three made from numerous bamboo strips woven into intricate patterns, the fourth made of a single strip bent in half, a cylindrical lacquer container inside; each piece with a loop to the side to be used as a wall vase, 21.5cm max. (5)
Provenance: from the collection of the late Gas Kimishima, wood-fire potter and specialist in the ancient kilns of Japan, purchased in Japan and thence by descent. Gas established his studio in England and built his own anagama kiln in Tring, Hertfordshire.
