A PAIR OF JAPANESE CLOISONNE VASES
MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY
The tall baluster bodies with mirroring decoration, the sides with lappets enclosing ho-o birds and writhing dragons chasing flaming pearls of wisdom, with various bands of geometrical designs, scrolling tendrils, spirals and flowers above and medallions enclosing butterflies and chidori plovers in flight, the rims with metal mounts, both 24.8cm.
