A JAPANESE WOOD NETSUKE OF A FROG
MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY
Realistically carved, the small amphibian dozing off on top of a wooden bucket, the sides with minute metal studs, inscribed Masanao underneath, possibly for Masanao of Yamada, Ise Province, 2.7cm.
Provenance: an English private collection, Somerset, purchased in Japan.
