A Midland Railway Ambulance silver first aid award medal to George William Nicholson, 51mm, railway company arms and title, rev. Maltese cross and engraved award details (G.W. NICHOLSON / MANSFIELD MAY 30TH 1903), in case of issue, about extremely fine.
Co-founder of the Mansfield division of the St John Ambulance Brigade in 1901. In August 1914 he led a contingent of 16 ambulance men to Aldershot, to serve in the Cambridge Military Hospital.
