Three medal to Bombardier Robert Thomas Toop, Australian Imperial Force, who died in an accidental cave-in in Egypt: 1914-15 Star (6784 BDR. R. T. TOOP. 4/F.A. BDE. A.I.F.), British War Medal 1914-20 and Victory Medal (6784 BDR. R. T. TOOP. 4 F.A.B. A.I.F.), good very fine or better; together with the corresponding Memorial Plaque (ROBERT THOMAS TOOP), Memorial Scroll, a uniformed portrait photograph of Bombardier Toop and his identity disc, and various other items of associated ephemera.
Robert Toop, a farmer in civilian life, enlisted 23/09/1915 aged 21. He joined the 4th Field Artillery Brigade, Australian Imperial Force. He died 04/02/1916 while stationed in Egypt, while sleeping in a space dug into the side of a trench. The wall of the trench collapsed, burying him alive. Offered with research.
