A Georgian Lieutenant Colonel's commissioning document, Major William Campbell, 23rd Regiment of Foot, dated 18th June 1815 (the day of the Battle of Waterloo), signed 'Sidmouth' (Home Secretary Henry Addington, 1st Viscount Sidmouth), 'George' top left, countersigned by the Secretary of War Robert Jenkinson and General of Musters Thomas Butts, by in a glazed frame.
Commissioned Major 12/04/1814. Appears on the Waterloo Roll as officer in charge of Company No 5, and on the staff of the Assistant Quartermaster General.
