A rare Martin Brothers stoneware butter dish and cover by Robert Wallace Martin, dated 1882, the elliptical dish on integrated tray incised and painted with wading birds in a grassland setting, other birds flying past in blue and brown on buff ground, the cover with radiating prunus boughs, and foliate finial, 2-5-82 RWMartin London & Southall, repaired finial, chip to rim, 21.5cm. wide
