Description

A matched set of six George III Regimental silver Old English pattern tablespoons, East York Regiment of Militia,

various dates and makers including three by Eley and Fearn, London 1805,

the terminal engraved with the regimental badge, approx. weight 13.5oz. (6)

The Regiment was raised at Beverley in 1759 and known as the Beverley Buffs. The Regiment was called out during the Spithead and Nore mutinies in 1797. In 1881 it became the 3rd Bn. The East Yorkshire Regiment and was deployed to South Africa in 1902. It was disbanded in 1953.
