A Victorian Regimental silver Fiddle, Thread and Shell pattern tablespoon and two matching William IV silver salt spoons, the 83rd (Country of Dublin) Regiment of Foot,

by George Adams, London 1867, and maker's mark worn, London 1830,

the terminals with the regimental crest, approx. weight 4.9oz. (3)

Raised in Dublin in 1793 as the 83rd Regiment of Foot. Served in the Peninsula war. In 1859 it became 83rd (County of Dublin) Regiment of Foot. In 1881 it amalgamated with 86th (Royal County Down) Regiment to form The Royal Irish Rifles.
