Description

An early 19th century Regimental Old Sheffield plated meat dish cover, 58th (Rutlandshire) Regiment of Foot,

unmarked, circa 1825,

domed oval form, fluted scroll handle, engraved with the badge within foliate scroll mantling, gadroon border, length 38cm.

In 1881 the 58th Regiment became the 2nd Bn The Northamptonshire Regiment, and in 1960 amalgamated to become the 2nd East Anglian Regiment.
