Description

A Victorian parcel-gilt silver vinaigrette,

by John Tongue, Birmingham 1855,

rectangular form, the hinged cover with a raised silver-gilt scene of a cherub within a foliate scroll border, the base inscribed 'Presented to Rosina Julia Gilbert as a token of love by her uncle Saml. Gilbert on the day of her marriage, March 11th 1856', the interior with a pierced and engraved silver-gilt grille, length 2.8cm, approx. weight 0.3oz.
