Description

A set of four George III silver meat platters,

by Frederick Kandler, London 1761,

shaped oval form, gadroon borders, engraved with a coat of arms below a viscount's coronet, the underside with scratch weights '48=10', '49=0', '48=17' and '48=14', length 45.2cm, approx. weight 181oz. (4)

The arms are those of Murray quartering Barclay of Balvaird, for David 7th Viscount Stormont K.T. (1727-1796), later 2nd Earl Mansfield.

Provenance: David 7th Viscount Stormont K.T., and then by descent to the current owner.
