THREE CHINESE ARCHAIC JADE ORNAMENTS

WESTERN ZHOU AND EASTERN ZHOU DYNASTY

Comprising: a flat opaque jade disc decorated with archaic scrolls, with two birds on the outer rim, a small greyish-green jade disc with outer notched outlines and zoomorphic scrolls, rectangular celadon and russet jade appliques, carved with confronted birds with long striated crests and tail feathers, 4.7cm, 3.7cm and 3.5cm. (3)

Provenance: a private collection, London, the first disc, formerly in the Chang Nai-chi Collection, acquired from C.T. Loo & Co., New York, and then Frank Caro, New York, 1964, purchased from Christie's New York, The Arthur M Sackler Collections, 16th September 2010, part of lot 974; the second disc purchased from Christie's New York, The Arthur M Sackler Collections, 16th September 2010, part of lot 974; the third jade formerly acquired from J T Tai & Co., New York, 1963, purchased from Christie's New York, The Arthur M Sackler Collections, 16th September 2010, part of lot 973.
