FOUR SMALL CHINESE JADE CARVINGS

HAN DYNASTY AND EASTERN ZHOU DYNASTY

Comprising: three jade cicada pendants with incised details, the first of opaque and white tone, the two flattened pendants in pale celadon and russet; a small greyish-green openwork jade plaque with stylised dragons, the mottled stone with white chalky areas and darker inclusions, 6.4cm max. (4)

Provenance: a private collection, London, formerly in the Arthur M Sackler Collections, the smallest cicadas, formerly purchased in J T Tai & Co., New York, prior to 1978, the other two cicadas, formerly in A W Bahr Collection, Weybridge,1963; all of the three cicadas then purchased from Christie's London, 6 November 2009, part of lot 14; the dragon plaque purchased from Christie's London, 14 May 2010, part of lot 607.
