A FINE AND RARE PAIR OF CHINESE IMPERIAL IRON-RED DECORATED AND UNDERGLAZE BLUE 'SEA CREATURES' BOWLS
SIX CHARACTER DAOGUANG MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD 1821-50
The deep sides decorated to the exteriors with wide bands of sea creatures, haishou, in blue on a ground of froth-capped, iron-red waves between key fret and dentil borders, the interiors with medallions of winged creatures leaping in a similar wave ground, each with a wood stand, 21.2cm. (4)
Provenance: an English private collection, and thence by descent.
