TWO CHINESE YELLOW SOAPSTONE 'MYTHICAL BEAST' SQUARE SEALS
QING DYNASTY OR LATER
The larger seal carved to the upper surface with a chilong grasping lingzhi in its mouth, the seal face reads jia zhu wu hu qishisan, signed Sangeng, possibly the name of the carver; the other surmounted by a single-horned beast with its head turned to dexter, the seal face reads jia le mo ru wei shan, each stone of caramel tone, signed Jiekan, the stones with natural veins and creamy-beige inclusions, together with a wooden box with two drawers, 2.9cm and 3.1cm, 11.9cm high the box.
