the brass eight day movement with four turned pillars and an anchor escapement striking on a bell, the arched 12 inch brass dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, with a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, with gilt Rococo spandrels and strike / silent dial, signed 'George Jefferys Chatham', the faux tortoiseshell case decorated with gilt highlights with chinoiserie scenes
