Description

A large and early Lowestoft ale or cider jug, c.1760-62, finely painted with a large spray of flowering peony, the reverse with a bird in flight above trees issuing from tall rockwork on an island beside a low hut, the rim with a berry border, the internal rim with a formal scroll design, 25cm.
