Description
A Bristol shell salt or sweetmeat dish, c.1768-72, formed as a scallop shell painted with a central flower spray, the rim with a scroll and husk border in red and blue, raised on a low base applied with shells, coral and seaweed, blue X mark, 10.5cm across.
