A Retro gold and sapphire brooch, circa 1950, designed as a stylised propellor composed of polished gold, set with circular-cut sapphires, diameter 4.7cm, unsigned
Accompanied by original receipt dated 2000
Though unsigned, this brooch is very closely comparable to the design Tourbillon by Van Cleef & Arpels, which emerged in the late 1940s. Cf.: Evelyn Possémé ed., Van Cleef & Arpels: the Art of High Jewelry, Paris, 2012, p.146, for examples of this distinctive design.
