Description

A 19th century continental silvergilt and porcelain mounted dessert service comprising: 12 cast spoons with openwork, fruiting vine stems, 12 threeprong forks with fruiting vine decoration and porcelain handles and 12 knives with scimitar blades and porcelain handles *, unmarked probably German, 1st half of the 19th century, contained in a fitted leather case with two lift-out trays and sold with a letter relating to the purchase of and former ownership of this set. * These handles each appear to be individually painted with a different scene on both sides against a royal blue ground, heightened with gilding.
