Description

A late 17th/early 18th century French Butterfield dial, of canted oblong form with a sprung gnomen and a bird pointer, the reverse inscribed with the names of French & Belgian cities (and London & Rome) and their degrees of latitude (Rome 41-54 through to London 51-31), signed "Butterfield A Paris" and struck with a discharge mark (contained in its original fitted case), 2.01in (5.2cm) long.
