Latterly a Sapper in the Royal Engineers, McLeavy became disabled owing to the effects of influenza in 1919. While serving with the 18th Bn London Regiment he was twice wounded in action, and, less nobly, sentenced to 2 days Field Punishment for "throwing rubbish about camp". Offered with copy research.
