A GEORGE III MAHOGANY LONGCASE CLOCK
BY J. GOODCHILD, BRADFORD, LATE 18TH CENTURY
the brass eight day movement with four knopped pillars and an anchor escapement striking on a bell, the painted dial with black Roman hours and Arabic minutes, with subsidiary seconds and date dials and inscribed 'J. GOODCHILD / BRADFORD' between cherries and floral spandrels beneath an arch with a moonphase with ballooning scenes and terrestrial hemispheres, the hood with a broken swan neck pediment and stop fluted columns on a trunk with a wavy topped door flanked by quarter columns, with keys, weights and pendulum
