A 19th century Chinese export lacquer writing box, with allover gilt decoration on a black ground, the hinged lid with a pull-down section for pens and letters, the interior lacking its dividers, the base with a drawer, the sides with brass carrying handles, 5.5in (14cm) h, 17.5in (44.4cm) w, 11.25in (28.6cm) d. Some damage to lacquer.
