A Saint Cloud cane handle, c.1730-50, of bec de corbin shape, the tapering curved form painted in polychrome enamels with Chinese figures holding a parasol and and a pennant beneath a flowering prunus tree, the end painted with a mythical animal mask in yellow and red, and two Saint Cloud cane handles. of pommel form, the smaller painted in underglaze blue with three large sprays of flowering Oriental plants, the larger with a continuous flowering spray encircling the stem, some wear, 6cm max (3).
