A LARGE AND RARE CHELSEA PORCELAIN BOCAGE GROUP 'THE MUSIC LESSON'

modelled as a shepherd and shepherdess, he teaching her to play the flageolet, before flowering bocage, with a dog and lambs before a floral arbour, on a scrolling base, with a painted wood base and glass dome (3)

Catalogue Note
This group is an adaptation of a Sèvres biscuit group by Etienne Maurice Falconet, which in turn was based on François Boucher's 1748 painting, 'The Enjoyable Lesson'. There is an example in both the Bearsted Collection at Upton House and the Schreiber Collection at the V&A.
