A PAIR OF CHINESE IMPERIAL FAMILLE ROSE RUBY-GROUND MEDALLION BOWLS
SIX CHARACTER DAOGUANG MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD 1821-50
Each decorated to the exterior with four gilt-bordered roundels enclosing flowering sprays including peonies, peaches, hollyhocks and pomegranates, divided by stylised lotus scrolls reserved on a ruby sgraffiato ground, the interior painted with a flower basket encircled by four fruiting flower branches with lingzhi and auspicious emblems in underglaze blue, 14.8cm. Provenance: From the private collection of a European nobleman, who was a Consul in China from 1907-1931.
