A SMALL CHINESE LONGQUAN CELADON MALLET-SHAPED VASE
SOUTHERN SONG DYNASTY

The cylindrical body tapering slightly to towards the foot, surmounted by a tall neck, all below a wide everted mouth rim, covered overall in an unctuous bluish-green glaze, 16.8cm.

Provenance: formerly a French private collection.

Cf. Christie's New York, 22nd March 2019, lot 717, for a similar example of this type, see also one excavated from Simaqiao, a Song dynasty tomb, now in Sichuan Museum.
