A LARGE CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE DISH
16TH CENTURY
Brightly painted in different shades of cobalt blue with a three-tiered pagoda and an abundance of different birds, including chickens, pheasants, parrots and swallows and with squirrels amidst bamboo and a large cicada, the border painted with small sampans, huts and pagodas on a rocky river landscape, the reverse with four fruiting peach branches, the underside unglazed, 44cm.
Provenance: from an English private collection, given to the current owner's father in the 1970s.
