THREE JAPANESE MOULDED TEAPOTS AND COVERS
EDO PERIOD, 17TH/18TH CENTURY
The smallest decorated with two recessed cartouches enclosing chickens with eggs to one side and a peony to the reverse, all rendered in relief; on a dark blue ground with remnants of decoration in gilt, the handle a later metal replacement; another decorated with butterflies and flowers, the cover with kintsugi gold lacquer repairs; the third an Imari teapot with two figures and chickens in relief, one possibly Hotei carrying his sack of treasures, painted with many blooms and with a moulded row of studs to the shoulder, the spout a later metal replacement, 17.5cm max.
