A gold and gem-set mourning locket pendant, late 19th century, of oval outline, centring on the entwined initals SRE, within a star border set with twelve assorted cushion-shaped and cabochon stones including, emerald, sapphire, ruby diamond and chalcedony, possibly intended as an acrostic message, opening to reveal a glazed compartment and a memorial inscription dated to 1871, the reverse with an additional glazed compartment, length 6.1, stamped ORR 18
