A CHINESE CELADON JADE OVAL 'PHOENIX' PLAQUE
QING DYNASTY
Carved with an openwork design centred on the mythical bird striding proudly beneath scrolling clouds and fruiting branches issuing from holey rockwork, the stone with small scattered dark and russet inclusions, 6.7cm.
Provenance: formerly the collection of the Viceroy of Min-Zhe, who served in the Qing government from 1898-1903.
